In the hustle and bustle of daily life, I cross paths with countless individuals—men and women alike. Whether in business or casual encounters, extending a handshake is often the unspoken rule, a gesture of courtesy and mutual respect. Now, if someone prefers not to engage in a handshake, that’s perfectly fine. It’s not a deal breaker. But if you do offer your hand, there’s one thing you need to ensure: make it firm.
A handshake, is more than just a formality. It’s an immediate indicator of the kind of person you are. It speaks volumes about your confidence, your respect for the other person, and, frankly, your approach to life.
I’m not saying you need to crush the other person’s hand—there’s no need to prove your strength to the point of pain. But what I am saying is that a firm grip shows you mean business. It shows you’re present, engaged, and respectful. A handshake that feels more like holding a limp fish? Well, let’s just say it leaves a lot to be desired. In fact, I would have more respect for someone who simply told me they prefer not to shake hands at all.
Let’s be real, men: there’s no middle ground here. Either shake hands properly or don’t do it at all. A firm handshake is a reflection of who you are—a man of strength, confidence, and respect. It’s a small gesture, but it carries a lot of weight. So next time you reach out your hand, make sure it says everything you want it to.
